about the club

The club was formed in 1973 by Queensland Celica enthusiasts. For many years, the club ran a regular motorkhana and regular competition events.

The club still holds nav-runs (following navigation instructions and collecting clues en-route), an annual show-n-shine, informal motorkhanas and other one-off competitive events (like go-karts).

Some club members also drag their fellow members out to Queensland Raceway and Willowbank Raceway for friendly grudge matches on the track and down the quarter-mile.

As suggested by regular appearances in the club newsletter, there are quite a few rally enthusiasts in the club, with members regularly volunteering for selected rounds of the Australian and Queensland Rally Championships.

Four years ago, the club changed its name from the Celica Car Club of Queensland to the Toyota Car Club Australia (Qld) to reflect the changing membership of the club and to be more inclusive of the Toyota marque.

Club members come from all walks of life and have different passions and intentions (towards their cars). There are traditionalists, show-car fanatics, rally-enthusiasts, collectors, performance modifiers, stock-as-a-rock proud owners and just plain-old 'toyota drivers'.

The club hopes to provide a forum and meeting place for all these car lovers who are joined by their common admiration (and sometimes frustration) of the cars that Toyota has made over the years.

The club is run by a committee who are elected by members each year. The committee organises the events during the year and works with club members to make events exciting, fun and memorable.
